In 1953, eight years after the II World War, Daniel T. Haley resigned from his managerial position at the Prudential Insurance Group to set out on his own to form the Daniel T. Haley Insurance Agency. With five young children at home there was very little room for error, but through hard work, a loving supportive wife, and a true love of the insurance business, Daniel T. Haley flourished as an independent insurance agent.
Julia Haley, daughter of Daniel T. Haley, recalls her father's passion for the insurance business. "My father really loved the day to day interaction with his clients and companies. He was the type of man that would give you the shirt off his back." This type of integrity and customer service propelled the Daniel T. Haley Insurance Agency to become one of the premier insurance agencies throughout the Greater Portland region.
Twenty years later, Daniel T. Haley, Jr. joined his father's agency after serving three years as a Marine Corps infantry officer. In 1989, Dan Purchased the agency from his father Dan Sr.; however, the joys of being an owner where short-lived as he was called to active duty on November 11, 1990 to defend his country in Operation Desert Storm. Dan's wife, Connie, a dental hygienist, came in to replace Dan while he was away. During this period of time, advanced technologies such as e-mail and the Internet were not readily available, but with the help of Dan's brother, Tim Haley, long time employee Elizabeth Kearns, and Dan's life-long friend, Gary Chapin, the office continued to operate smoothly. Dan returned to the agency after completing his tour of duty in June of 1991. Connie stayed on board with the agency and continued as a critical player in the great success of the agency over the next seventeen years. The Haley Agency is known throughout Greater Portland as a family oriented agency that provides a high level of customer service to its clients.
